About Me

My real estate career began by circumstance in 1999.  In an effort to relocate to the beautiful island of Key West I accepted a job as an assistant to a top producing real estate agent. As it turned out my love for the island and desire to reside here were the perfect tools to launch my job into a successful career. Within a month I was licensed and began selling real estate.  Within a year my career was proving to be successful, I purchased a house and knew I would be calling this lovely island home for a long time.  I share the same passion for my product as my customers and I truly enjoy assisting them in their real estate needs whether buying or selling.  

I consider it a privilege to work and live in this diverse community. I was born and raised in Angola, Indiana and graduated from Indiana University in Business and Merchandising. My Midwestern roots have left me with a fondness for an intimate community and Key West had me feeling right at home from the first visit.  Add gorgeous landscape and an average temperature of 77 degrees to the equation and I am here to stay.

Buying a Home in Key West?  

Buying a home on a tropical island is a unique experience that often times requires an education in real estate different than that of other parts of the country.  We have many environmental and geographic specific details that may impact your personal selections and expectations for property from neighborhoods, additional insurance needs, elevation, historical designations/restrictions, construction and architectural details to name a few.  Many of these factors are not realized until you begin the process of looking for property and without the help of an agent you may find yourself on a slow path to educating yourself on what could be critical to your purchase and future enjoyment of your property.  I attribute my success in matching buyers and sellers effectively to pre-qualifying and prioritizing the criteria of a home buyer. With over a decade of experience I having an acute understanding of our market that has given me the knowledge to ask the right questions which translates into a much more efficient and informed buying experience.

Selling a Home? 

This is when experience counts!   First and formost your listing agent needs to be a skilled communicator, negotiator and listener.  You should feel comfortable around them and have trust in their ability provide you with informed and experienced advice.  You can tell alot about your agent by their intial presentation both personally and professionally.  This is likley an example of the kind of service and quality you can expect and the skill and care you they will use in marketing your property.  

Any realtor can place your home in the MLS but a true listing agent does so with careful attention to detail and quality.  Not all proerties have the most stunning details but a clean , informed and comprehensive representation of the property is not too much to expect regardless of the asking price. Photography is a critical first step in displaying a property effectively and accuratley.  Of course an experienced listing agent will also offer different resources beyond the MLS for reaching buyers from the internet, print advertising, open houses, caravans and  a strong and seasoned network with buyers and local agents working with buyers.
